ne·crop·o·lis- 1.acemetery,especiallyoneoflargesizeandusuallyofanancientcity. 2.ahistoricorprehistoricburialground. Hello! My name is Yolie C. and Necropolis zine was created in June, 2016. After contributing and collaborating to other zines for years I finally decided to branch out and create a zine myself. I wanted to focus on something that I loved and surprisingly that turned out to be cemeteries. I have been visiting cemeteries since I was a little girl. When I was a teenager, various cemeteries became my safe haven. I have so many fond memories of picnics, reading under a tree or just sitting and reflecting there.
I recently turned 30 and thought that this would be a great opportunity to put the finishing touches on Necropolis. My hope is that it will grow and that others will share their art and stories about cemeteries and death. Inside each issue you will find photos, poems, spells and other artwork that has to deal with graveyards, cemeteries and death. I'm excited to have Necropolis expand and become a place where fellow weirdos can stretch their wings.
You can get involved by submitting or buying a copy of Necropolis Zine! I could not have done this without the support of my fellow zinesters and the zine queen herself, Charissa Lucille of Fem Static and Wasted Ink Zine Distro. Also a beloved shout-out to my friends and boyfriend Billy R. who has been nothing but supportive and helpful.
If you don't like my zine then I urge you to create your own! All you need is an idea and some paper. That's it! Good luck and thank you for coming along on this journey with me.
